Donna Frost is an exceptional artist whose premier release, Pure & Simple, is a high-energy testament to her numerous musical influences. Donna Frost was born in Franklin, TN and grew up in a musical family. Her grandparents were gospel singers and her father and uncles make up the well-known Frost Quartet, a group that is still recording and performing today. Another uncle, Felton Jarvis, was a producer for Elvis Presley. This musical background made an impression on Donna who says, "As a kid, I'd sit around at my uncle Felton's house and jam with James Burton and Carl Perkins." Donna's professional career started with her father's group when she was just a kid. With musical influences like Janis Joplin and the Beatles, she was soon performing with her all-female rock and roll group "The Paper Dolls". They were listed as the Best Female Band in the Mid-South by Rolling Stone Magazine's Rock and Roll Almanac. Through the years, Donna has worked with such established artists as Skeeter Davis as well as singing backup on B.J. Thomas' latest CD. Recently, Donna has been performing frequently with her band in a wide variety of Nashville venues. Donna has performed all over the United States as well as Barbados and St. Lucia in the Carribean. She has appeared on several television shows including Music City Showcase, Charlie Daniels Talent Round-Up and has recently made several appearances on the Grand Ole Opry with Skeeter Davis. Also, Donna has performed with many notable country and pop artists such as Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens, B.J. Thomas, Earl Thomas Conley, Mark O'Connor and top Jamaican artists Carlene Davis and Papa San. When she is not performing live, Donna works as a back-up vocalist and demo singer in addition to her appearances in movies and music videos. Pure & Simple is an acoustically oriented blend of folk and country with a little bit of rock and roll. Donna is a regular guest on Matthew Gillian's Opry Star Spotlight, which features songs from her CD, interviews and also live on air performances of other songs. She also appeared on the Grand Ole Opry again several times in the month of March with Skeeter Davis. "Pure and Simple" is receiving airplay on Americana & college stations across the U.S.A., as well as overseas including France, England, Germany, Holland, Slovenia, Australia, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Ireland. "My Baby Loves To Treat Me Right", one of the cuts from the CD, has spent several weeks at the #1 spot on some independent charts in the UK this year. Currently, Donna is recording her 2nd CD, "Feels Like Home", which will be released in 2001. She will begin touring in March, 2001 with shows scheduled thus far in Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Cleveland, OH, and London, England. Stay tuned for more details! |
